RSPCA ACT Inspectors are still asking for members of the Canberra community to assist in providing information regarding a shocking case of animal cruelty where 6 chickens were found beheaded in the suburb of Melba on Saturday 21 of November.
There have been suggestions that this was the result of a fox attack. These claims have been unfounded. A veterinary examination was performed on the chooks which confirmed that human intervention ended their lives.
Senior Inspector Catherine Croatto said, “After the veterinary examination, it was clear to see that this was an act of animal cruelty. This matter in ongoing and I would like to encourage members of the public to come forward if they have any information.”
The owner of the chickens were clearly upset by this act of animal cruelty and shared their concerns with RSPCA Inspectors, “I am so shocked that this has happened and so shocked that someone could do this to beloved pets.”
RSPCA ACT encourages members of the public to come forward with any information relating to this incident. Please call RSPCA ACT Senior Inspector Catherine Croatto on 0408 421 255.
